Shared Hosting is normally associated when more than 1 user is using a web host that uses the same resources to serve their web content to internet.

Shared Hosting is when more than one user uses the same resources to deliver their website to the internet. While Virtual Private Servers are technically shared resources they are more secure to the extra layers of security and in a lot of virtual servers resources are not shared but allocated.
