I am trying to find the association between grades and most and least preferred subjects, wherein it is hypothesized that subject preference is the independent variable to the dependent variable grades. The grades will be treated as ordinal variables (Likert scale) ranging from 4 (100-98) to 1 (89-85). Both the most and least preferred subjects will be answered by respondents. It is assumed that the most preferred subject has a positive correlation with the grades, meaning if you like the subject you should have a higher grade; the least preferred is hypothesized to have a negative correlation with the grades, where if you do not like the subject, you will receive lower grades. What is the most appropriate statistical test to be used here?
Grades | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
Grades of... | 100-98 | 97-95 | 94-90 | 89-85 |
Most Preferred Subject | ||||
Least Preferred Subject |
I'm sorry if I can't explain this properly, since I am not used to doing statistical tests and statistics in general.
