I have been reading a few posts like this one (What is the difference between random variable and random sample?) on the subject so I'd like to make sure my understanding is correct. Let us say I take a random sample from a population P, for instance, a sample of 30 students (randomly) from a school in order to measure their height. Let's say the random variable $X_{i}$ (where $\textit{i}$ goes from 1 to 30) indicates the height of the $\textit{i}$-th student, then I would think the random sample is the collection of all the $X_{i}$. Am I wrong?.

Is it ok to say that a random sample is a collection of random variables?
