Should standardization(subtracting the mean and dividing by the standard deviation) and normalization(subtracting the minimum value and dividing by(max value -min value)) both be applied to a data set or any one of these would work? I am sorry for such a trivial question. I am a beginner in statistics. I would appreciate if someone could recommend me any good text/resource about data standardization and normalization. When should I standardize/normalize?do both?do one of them. Is normalization needed even after log transformation of the data?
