The Playstation 3 (PS3) is a game console created by Sony and the successor of the Playstation 2.

The PlayStation 3 supports both disk-based media and download-based games from the Playstation Store. It also supports all PS1 game disks run through emulation. The early versions of the console also supported PS2 titles through a mix of onboard hardware and emulation, although this was dropped early on to save costs.
