Garageband icon
Garageband was first introduced for the Mac in January 2004. Since then, there have been several major releases, adding such features as MIDI integration and a "podcast studio."

Garageband for the iPad was announced on March 2, 2011. It is very similar to the macOS version. It has virtual on-screen instruments, such as keyboards and drums. In November of 2011, Apple updated Garageband to include iPhone and iPod Touch support.
