Louis Riel

Louis Riel, nama penuh Louis David Riel (IPA: ˈ|l|uː|iː|_|r|iː|ˈ|ɛ|l) (22 Oktober 1844 – 16 November 1885) ialah seorang ahli politik Kanada, seorang daripada pengasas wilayah Manitoba, dan juga ketua politik dan kerohanian orang Métis yang tinggal di prairie Kanada.[1] Riel mengetuai dua pergerakan penentang Kerajaan Kanada dan perdana menteri pasca-Konfederasi, Sir John A. Macdonald. Riel mahu mengekalkan hak-hak dan kebudayaan orang Métis pada waktu tanah air mereka di Barat Daya Kanada mula dipengaruhi Kanada. Beliau dianggap ramai orang sebagai seorang wira rakyat.[2]
